WKNY BRASS KNUCKLES (BOTTLE OPENER)

Created as a welcome gift for new employees of Wieden & Kennedy’s New York office. These brass knuckle shaped bottle openers were engraved with each employee’s name and start date. And since brass knuckles are illegal in some states, we included a tag with the following warning:

Brass knuckles are illegal in New York City. Bottle openers are not. This street-legal bottle opener commemorates the day you started at W+K New York. And not the day you got arrested for toting around brass knuckles, which are illegal according to New York City Penal Law 265.01 (1). Fortunately, for you, these are, in no way, shape, or form brass knuckles*.

*Except in form and shape and, possibly, way.

To date, one copywriter and an art director have been arrested for trying to take them through airport security.

MONA LISA SCULPTURE

One of my first welding projects, this Mona Lisa was constructed with two metal planes intertwined with wire. Viewed from most angles, it appears to be abstract art. But viewed straight on, all the elements line up to form the Mona Lisa.

TOILET FISH TANK SCULPTURE

The first question people normally ask, "does it work?" To which I reply, "as a fish tank, yes. For you to relieve yourself in the middle of my living room, no." The bowl portion is a real toilet purchased at Home Depot. I created the tank by welding the frame and cutting the glass to fit. Inside, the tank is filled with real toilet parts plus an aerator which makes the flapper move up and down. All the fish food and supplies are stored in the bowl.
