I have had the dream of building my own house for a long time. A couple of years ago, I settled for building a playhouse for my kids. After spending a few weeks designing it, I spent every weekend for three months building it.
Breaking ground.
To help liven up the lobby at W+K NY, I created a wooden boardwalk style photobooth. To pull off this project, I teamed up with Chicago's A&A Studios for their photobooth expertise and W+K NY studio, especially Patrick Cahalan, to help design panels with various "Wieden-isms".
Above is one of my initial sketches. Below are some photos of the booth at various stages of construction.
A friend, with a beautiful New York apartment, had a not-so-beautiful phone which she was required to keep on the wall. So, she asked if I could build something to cover it up.
My daughter built a cardboard boat for a school project. It sank, she was fine, but we all thought it would be a really fun thing to do with our friends as an end of the summer party.
Ok, it wasn’t technically “made with wood” but it was a lot fun to build.
This was the fleet of competitors.
The aftermath.
